Nganya Galore
Nairobi’s decorated matatus are a genuine design culture with no proper record. Nganya Galore is the catalogue — the buses, the crews, and the people who follow them.
What it is
A ranking and discovery platform for matatu culture: the vehicles, their artwork, their sound systems and the crews who run them. The subject is followed obsessively and documented casually, mostly in social posts that scroll away.
Why it is built this way
The value is in the record surviving. Anything worth cataloguing has to be structured from the first entry — searchable, attributable and still there in five years — rather than assembled later out of screenshots.
Where it sits
It runs in deliberate maintenance rather than active build. That is a stated position, not neglect: it is reviewed on the same weekly cycle as everything else we operate.
